Hard Skin "The truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth"

This blog has been copied from someone else.
We have added some additional information to it.
But not a lot.

Since our initial Blog we have been sent the following Wat Tyler youtube video
Wat Tyler @ Camden Underworld in 2006
The big bald man looks quite familiar.
Does anyone recognise him?

Recently, Hard Skin decided to lie about a handful of Oi! Bands, calling them Nazis.
They  desecrate the Union Jack on stage, and claimed to be an Anti Fascist Oi! Band.
How can you believe anything these self proclaimed "skinheads" say when they lie about so much?

HARD SKIN: The Truth

Firstly, who are Hard Skin

Fat Bob (Bass and Vocals) is Sean Forbes Click Here , who works in Rough Trade West.
His videos about how much he loves D-beat bands, indie, electro, prog rock and soppy pop can be seen Here

Johnny Takeaway (Guitar) is actually Ben Corrigan: Click here to see his bands

Nosher, the original Drummer was Chris Ackland: Click here from pop band Lush.
He topped himself after releasing the first Hard Skin album.

Nipper, the second drummer is Scott Stewart from Brocoli, The 'Tone and others

Here’s an extract from an interview done in 2012,
and then a brief explanation as to why it’s all bollocks.

“There are many people who consider Hard Skin to be some sort of joke band.
When i said so to you you seemed to be a bit annoyed...”
Fat Bob (Sean Forbes) “People may say what they like, but to the people who say we are a fake band i'd like to ask: did you see the 4Skins in 1983? Did you see Blitz in 1983? I was at all those gigs. I went to Oi!-gigs before these people were even born. So, if they consider us to be fake it's their opinion, but it's wrong.”

Sean Forbes says he saw 4Skins in 1983. Here’s a picture of Sean Forbes from when he played in a crusty punk outfit called Wat Tyler... Somehow, I find it hard to believe that this would have been welcome at a 4 Skins show...but I could be wrong (I doubt it)

Pic below is Sean Forbes in Wat Tyler

And here are some lyrics from one of the songs he was playing at that time:

“I’m a motorbike: vroom, vroom, vroom”
“I’m an aeroplane, I like it when I fly! I’m an aeroplane – I like it when I crash!”

Hardly Oi! And hardly even punk to say the least.

Here’s a little story found online about a band called the Scum Dribblurzzz who they seemed to share a stage with (remember, guilty by association):

“Ade thought it was "well funny" to get off with a disabled girl in a wheel chair, in front of his mates”

Doesn’t sound like particularly nice company to keep, mocking the disabled.

Wat Tyler also contributed to records such as this Gay Pride album , alongside Chumbawamba, only months before becoming the "homophobic band “Hard Skin” (see the full interview at Hard Skin - Scanner zine interview for examples of their homophobic comments.

Another interview from Scanner Zine
“..So – HARD SKIN. Introduce yourselves and give us the basic history of the band – the who, where, what and why stuff. Who were the band’s original influences – any bands beyond the obvious COCK SPARRER, BLITZ, COCKNEY REJECTS and SHAM 69? Any of you been in bands prior to HARD SKIN?”

..Fat Bob History is Fucking dull. We formed cause of our love of beer and birds and thought we'd get more of both if we were in a successful band. It proved to be the troof. Know what I mean? We deal in the old school Oi! Scene from England from SHAM onwards - none of this new shit coming out of America or anywhere else while I'm at it. We only like the classic bands - if you're obscure then you more than likely shit and that's why you are obscure. SPARRER, SHAM and the REJECTS are enough for any man. HARD SKIN is our first and only band.

..Johnny Takeaway I'm Johnny and that's it - never been in no band, just followed other bands and you know ‘em all. I like VICE SQUAD, that Beki has plenty of kit on board.

Sean says he’s never been in another band, but he’s been in countless (see his discogs page linked above) Ben also says he’s never been in a band, but he was in Thatcher on Acid and Schwartenegger Click here for wiki entry along with ex Crass and Conflict members.

Thatcher on Acid, featuring Johnny Takeway (with the dreadlocks) and Fat Bob (with the really bad haircut and blue top).  See pic below for Hard Skin the hippy version.

“..There’s been an eight-year gap between this album and your debut, Hard Nuts and Hard Cunts. What went on in the interim? You end up in prison for drunk and disorderly? Or are any of you young enough to go to Borstal? If the myth is to be believed, Nosher left the band and ended up in Prison and got stabbed to death – yeah? You sure he didn’t just grow his hair out and end up in a love-and-peace commune at Stonehenge?” “

..Fat Bob We were busy doing sex with Birds to bother writing songs. I mean there's too many bands obsessed with making music. Stick to the basics - fucking and drinking and you'll be alright in this industry. Nosher the original drummer got banged up and fucked up by the pigs in the nick. It was sick what them cunts did to him. We'll fight those bastards forever. Stonehenge is shit and none of HARD SKIN have ever been within 200 miles of it.”

“..Johnny Takeaway I never did anything. Fruit and veg that was it. Nosher topped himself you stupid cunt”

Firstly, these two couldn’t even agree on what happened to Nosher (Chris from Lush). I doubt he had time to get “fucked up” in prison, because he committed suicide in October of 1996, shortly after the first Hard Skin album came out on Helen of Oi! (who also released Close Shave, Pressure 28 and Frankie Flame, the bands Hard Skin are accusing of being Nazis).

Secondly, Sean Forbes used to have long hair (despite his disgust at the accusation) and played in a crusty band. Many of his scene-mates played the free Stonehenge festivals that were famously pushed by Crass and their ilk (who they were often in bands with). So although I have no evidence to show that Sean’s bands played the festival, it would be interesting to obtain a complete list of bands that have played, so we could see if they ever did.

Here’s them slagging off long hair again, when they sported it in the 80’s – the same time they claimed to be seeing all the oi! Bands.

“.Your lyrics often revel in the fact that you guys are hard as nails and could take anyone yeah? You also eulogise your own capabilities as lovers. How much sex do you get? Do you not think you’d get more if you crew out those ridiculously short hair cuts in favour of a RAMONES cut? It’s a well-known fact that long-haired Punks (like me) get much more action than those of the short-haired variety. Trust me – I know!!”

“..Fat Bob Birds love a bad boy and Skinheads are bad boys. How many people do you see in prison with long hair - none. Skinheads also have bigger cocks - it's been proven by history and other things that are telling the truth. Last week I did a fuck at least 6 and a half times. The half was when I well pissed and could only get to the semis.

..Johnny Takeaway Long haired punk? Long haired CUNT more like! Right down to the knees. Get yer hair cut and get a fucking job labouring or driving a lorry. You'd fuckin pull then - your own cock behind the skips. We pull when we need to empty the saddle bags. No point denying it. Hard as fuck.

Here's Fat Bob denying the existance of his own record label from the 80's and 90's - Rugger Bugger records

"..I recall a London record label called Rugger Bugger Records – you know what happened to it? I heard that one of the label’s top selling bands – THE ‘TONE – signed to Geffen Records for something like a three-album, ٠ million deal and froze all the distribution rights Rugger Bugger had. Then, with the ٠ million in pocket, they promptly fucked-off to the south of France and are now living in luxury there. The bloke from Rugger Bugger is apparently now working as a cleaner at McDonald’s in Leicester Square. Have I got that correct?"

"..Fat Bob) This question is from the mind of someone who hasn't got one. Rugger bugger-sounds like more of your gay fantasies. Try www.ruggerbugger.com and enjoy yourself captain batty"

The band he refers to - The 'Tone - was another of Ben Corrigan's bands, where he played alongside current Hard Skin drummer Scott Stewart.

Now here's some pics for you too look at.

  1. Those pictures are not from 1983. In fact, you have taken them from a post on the KILL YOUR PET PUPPY blog site in which the date they were taken is clearly staten: april 1st 1986.

Pretty cool for a blog titled "Fact not Fiction" and claiming to expose "the whole truth and nothing but the truth", I guess.

  4. the bottom picture is actually the mob and not thatcher on acid.
poorly written piece that conveniently forgets that hard skin are nothing more than a fun
band that replicate a certain genre by way of homage.
lighten up mate, you clearly have way too much time on your hands.

  5. Thank you for your comment Ben. If you read our statement at the top of the blog, you will see that we did not write this blog. Before your band Hard Skin made your farcical comments at the 2012 rebellion festival we had never heard of your band. Probably because your band is not recognised in the Skinhead/oi! scene. You claim you're a fun band. Falsely accusing people of being Nazis isn't funny in the slightest. The truth is you and your band are a bunch of old crusties, who have been trying to hide your past behind lie after lie. But we're happy to see that the backlash against your band's rebellion incident has led to you being kicked off the Cock Sparrer christmas gig. Now piss off.

  6. Nice piece of investigative journalism there,I mean all these years I d been thinking HardSkin were a fantastic parody Oi! band made up, most easily identifiably, by the hard to miss fat bloke from Wat Tyler and other Anarcho Vegan types and it turns out..........

  7. How would Skinheads know who the band Wat Tyler were? I don't recall at anytime any member of hard skin mentioning in any interview about being in wat tyler. Infact in interviews they denied ever being in any other bands.

  8. Ha. Actually laughable.
The thing is, for an article entitled "The whole truth and nothing but the truth" you seem to have done very little fact checking at all and when folks point it out, you just point out that you didn't write it.
...but you are perfectly happy to publish it under the guise of "truth".
In a court of law, that would render you equally guilty of libel, right? Obviously this isn't going to end up there - but you get what I am saying, right?

Also, haven't Hard Skin always been very open about being a satirical band to a certain extent? They take the best bits of Oi and rip the shit out of the worst parts (homophobia, racism, etc)...
It seems you missed that memo.
